During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Zoom app, as well as many other video conferencing apps, has been widely used as a solution to connect people with each other. However, sharing the screen with students or colleagues sometimes needs great caution because you can accidentally reveal a few secrets that aren’t allowed to share.
The professor may wish the Zoom app was never created.
The incident of the following university professor is a typical example. Before everything occurred, John Peng Zhang worked as a professor at the University of Miami. According to a report from The Miami Hurricane’s Jesse Lieberman – a college newspaper, Zhang organized a business analytics class via the Zoom app. While the professor was sharing the computer screen with students, some students suddenly figured out a bookmark under the name of “Busty college girl” on his browser.
One student immediately realized that the bookmark led to a pornography website and the whole class started to take screenshots of Professor Zhang. They shared these photos on social media including TikTok and that’s why the professor’s mishap went viral.
The Hurricane pointed out that a few hours after being shared on the social network, Zhang’s video collected over 800,000 views. It was removed out of TikTok right after that.

The following day, the network community kept sharing it on lots of Instagram pages such as Barstool, Fifthyear, and many other pages. Until now, the number of followers has hit millions.
In an interview with Reporter Jesse Lieberman from The Hurricane, Ethan Hartz, one of the students in Zhang’s business analytics class, said that his friends from some other schools had shared this video with him.
He also revealed that Zhang made an apology to his class in the next Zoom sessions. Zhang said, as reported by Lieberman,
"I don't know how it happened. I didn't see it, I'm pretty sure everybody else did…My apologies to the class."
The professor also hoped that his students wouldn’t share the link’s images. The mishap led to Zhang’s name being removed from the university webpage. And his classes were moved to other professors.
