Looks like fans of the original Marvel Avengers would be able to see the gang assembled on the screen once more - but in a different form this time. Over 20 characters would be voiced by their iconic MCU actors... however, the plots would definitely not be what you expect.

What exactly is Marvel's What If...?

This is a comic book series back in the 1970s by Roy Thomas that showcase various alternate storylines that some of your favorite characters could have taken. These stories range from slightly weird to outright bizarre - and not all of them have a happy ending. Early issues started with various questions such as "What if Spider-Man joins the Fantastic Four?, "What if Bruce Banner retains his intellect as the Hulk? or "What if Bucky survived World War 2?"... We can see that many of these ideas, unthinkable at the time, eventually get explored further and incorporated into Marvel's later comic books and movies.

The series is definitely going to bring viewers into some of the weirdest trips through space and time - all to experience some of the most bizarre situations that you would never think your favorite Marvel characters would be stuck inside. From the usual "heroes become villains and villains become heroes", "superpowers swap" to "what if Captain America lived during the American Civil War" or "What if Daredevil lived in feudal Japan". The series spans 13 volumes over the years - with recent stories cover some of the biggest events in the MCU like Civil War and Infinity War.

What will the show include?

Marvel has just revealed some new details about the upcoming animated series - it would focus on various landmark moments in the MCU. Each episode would cover one movie with one story element changed.

Captain Britain meets the new Iron Man

Various concept arts show Steve Rogers in an Iron Man suit, Peggy Carter as Captain Britain, zombified Captain America... and more. Robert Downey Jr. is going to return as the voice of Iron Man, along with his fellow colleagues Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Josh Brolin, Haley Atwell, Karen Gillan, Paul Rudd, and Michael Douglas
