Although the sky temporarily gets cleaner thanks to the Coronavirus, the temperature hasn’t shown any sign of cooling down. 2020 may be the hottest-ever year recorded by meteorologists. That’s exactly what scientists said to The Guardian.

Are you ready to cope with the warmest year in recorded history?

In April 2020, a meteorological agency in Qaanaaq, a town in northern Greenland measured the highest temperature here as 6 degrees Celsius. Back in January, there was even no snow in many places in the North Pole.

The average temperature in both Eastern Europe and Asia in the first quarter of 2020, is 3.1 degrees Celsius higher than that in the same quarter of the previous years. Also, the highest-ever temperature has been recorded in many places in the US.

Reports point out that the average temperature in the world increases 1 degree Celsius, leading to approximately 1 billion people unable to survive due to harsh climatic conditions.

In other words, by 2070, the temperature will increase by 7.5 degrees Celsius and about 1/3 of the population in the world may bear the heat of over 29 degrees Celsius. About 3.5 billion people may learn to survive in the extreme heat.

Back in January, there was even no snow in many places in the North Pole.

According to The Guardian, scientists across the world have got surprised as witnessing a series of the temperature records being broken since early 2020, even without any impaction of El Nino.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) figures out that the latest temperature record was noted in 2016 when the temperature soared at the beginning of that year due to unusually intense El Nino and it immediately dropped later.

The agency says that 2020 may be the warmest year in recorded history - that has never happened on Earth. This forecast may be accurate to 75%.

At the same time, the Meteorological Office (Met Office) reveals that 2020 will be one of the warmest years and the global temperature can increase by 1.1 degrees Celsius compared to that in the pre-industrial period. That means the number of the continuously warmest years will add at least one year, along with the high instability of the atmosphere in the whole region.

A series of the temperature records have been broken since early 2020, even without any impaction of El Nino.

As reported by Karsten Haustein, an expert at the Department of Meteorology of the University of Oxford, although the Coronavirus pandemic is the indirect reason to reduce the number of new emissions, the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been a big threat.

He also said that there hasn’t been any sign to show the reduction of greenhouse effects. However, at least people have a chance to revise their choices and make use of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 to reconstruct the traffic system and energy production more stably.
