AMC delays The Walking Dead's Season 10 finale due to the Coronavirus, with the company looking to release the episode later this year.

With the Coronavirus rapidly spreading across the world, it seems pretty much every upcoming TV show or movie this year has been pushed back so that audiences can fully enjoy its release. A Quiet Place 2, No Time to Die, and Black Widow, for example, have all been pushed back to later this year when theaters will be re-open and audiences will be able to experience them as intended. Sadly, it appears yet another delay has been added to that list.

Announced by AMC on Twitter, it seems The Walking Dead's season 10 finale has been pushed back indefinitely, with the company supposedly unable to complete post-production on the final episode due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The finale will instead debut later this year as a special episode, with AMC not revealing exactly when.

The full statement reads "Current events have unfortunately made it impossible to complete post-production of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale, so the current season will end with its 15th episode on April 5. The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year." Naturally, this is a small sacrifice for the safety of AMCs exceptional talent, however, it's no doubt disappointing to Walking Dead fans.

Fortunately, AMC has made the first eight episodes of season 10 free to watch on AMC.com and the AMC app, so fans looking to reacquaint themselves with the events so far will be able to for no cost. For those keeping up with the show, the delay couldn't have come at a worse time, with the previous episode - which saw series' regular Michonne depart from the franchise in a spectacular character-focused finale - leaving a number of unanswered questions. Hopefully, fans won't have to wait too long for the answers

Naturally, it seems as though the Coronavirus will delay a lot more media events and releases before the pandemic is over. Many have claimed a number of video games slated to release this year could see delays to accommodate for the impact of the virus, including Call of Duty 2020 and perhaps even The Last of Us 2, while events like E3, GDC, and the Overwatch League have had to make major sacrifices as well. Hopefully, the media industry will be able to endure this worrying global epidemic and come back stronger at the tail-end of this year.

The Walking Dead's season 10 finale will premiere at an as of yet unspecified date later this year.
